Loess is a brand of cosmetic products based in Costa Rica, their focus is botanical and clay soap.

Loess

I designed their identity and packaging. Amanda the owner came to me with a clear problem: her bars have amazing ingredients, scents and properties but their customers don’t know about it trough the packaging and online presence.

I took a look at the previous imagery and messaging. It looked beatiful, but very cryptic and hard to extrapolate all this information; the origin of the clays, the fruits, seeds and oils used in the soaps, the process itself, slow, by hand, with a lot of care.

And finally all these elements obey to a mythology Amanda has been envisioning from years ago. A mystical connection between the ritual of bathing, cleaning itself, pause time and the heavenly contemplation of the present.

The angel has been the symbol that encourage pursuing softness and rawness of being alive. I did a new version of it. Since the original was a bit too baby and the brand didn’t want to come as childish or be perceived to be only for kids.

In the following images you can see the visual alphabet, symbols and manifesto I develop for the brand.
